Five steps to your first take.

Getting from a fresh install to a finished take takes a few minutes. If you have already started, jump to the step you're on; your progress is kept.

Install
Download the macOS installer from your account page and run it. Restart your DAW (or Premiere Pro). If SONALAB doesn't appear, re-scan your plugins once.

Sign in
Open the SONALAB panel inside your host and sign in with your account.

Pick a line
Select an audio region on your timeline. The panel picks it up automatically; no exporting, no file juggling.

Text
Transcribe the region, or type the line yourself. If you're dubbing, translate it right in the panel.

Synthesize
Start synthesis. The finished take lands back in your session, either placed on the timeline for you or ready to drag into position.

Questions

Which hosts are supported?: Pro Tools (AAX), Nuendo and other VST3 hosts, plus a panel for Adobe Premiere Pro.
Which operating systems are supported?: macOS. A Windows version is available in beta: write to support@sonalab.eu and we'll set you up.
Do I need an internet connection?: Yes. Speech synthesis, transcription and translation run on SONALAB's EU servers, so the plugin needs to be online to render.
Can I use SONALAB without a DAW?: Yes. A standalone version exists: talk to the team and we'll set you up. Most of our clients work in a professional DAW, so we don't ship it by default.
How do I update the plugin?: The latest version is always on your account page. Download it, run the installer, restart your host. Your existing sessions, takes and settings are untouched.

What does it cost?: SONALAB is a flat-rate subscription: one price, unlimited renders. There is no per-minute metering and nothing to top up.
Is there a free trial?: Yes, the first week is free.
Can my whole team share one account?: No. Each account is licensed to one person, and sharing logins isn't permitted. If several people on your team work with SONALAB, each of them needs their own subscription. Voices stay in the workspace they were created in (see "Can I share a voice between projects or workspaces?").
How do I change or cancel my plan?: Any time, self-service, on your account page.
Where can I find my invoices?: On your account page.

Where do voices come from?: From your workspace's own SONA voices. There are two ways to add one: clone a voice from a short sample, or collect recordings directly from your speakers through a magic-link session. They receive a link, record in the browser, and the voice appears in your library.
How much audio do I need to clone a voice?: Six to thirty seconds is our recommendation. What matters more than length is quality: clean, dry audio of a single speaker, with no music or background noise. A good sample in, a good voice out.
How do I get consent from a speaker?: Send them a magic link. The recording session includes a consent step, so the speaker agrees to the use of their voice before they record a single word. You don't need to handle any paperwork on the side.
Can a voice speak a language the original speaker doesn't?: Yes. Every voice in your library is cross-lingual: record a speaker in German and use the same voice for the English, French or Spanish version of your dub. The speaker doesn't need to know the target language.
Which languages are supported?: Arabic, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish and Turkish.
Can I share a voice between projects or workspaces?: No. A voice belongs to your workspace and is available only for your own productions. For bigger teams and multi-workspace setups, talk to the SONA team.

Do I have to transcribe, or can I just type the text?: Either. Transcribe the selected region with one click, or type or paste the line yourself. You can always edit the transcript before you synthesize.
How does translation work when dubbing?: Machine translation is built into the plugin window. The text stays fully editable at all times, and you can keep the source text alongside for reference.
Will the new take match the length of the original? Can I control pacing or emotion?: These are early-access features: synthesis can target the region's duration, a speed and duration control is available, and there is a lip-sync mode. Get in touch with the team and we'll enable them for you.

Where does the finished take end up?: Back in your session. Depending on the host it is placed on the timeline for you or delivered as a clip ready to drag into position.
What format and sample rate is the output?: WAV, 24-bit, 44.1 kHz.
Is the output marked as AI?: Yes, every render is traceable. Anyone can check a file with SONA Verify in the web app.
Can I use the takes commercially?: Yes. Everything you render with SONALAB can be used commercially: broadcast, advertising, film, games, corporate content.

Where is my data processed?: Entirely in the EU. Renders and uploads stay on EU infrastructure, and nothing you upload is used for model training.
Who can access my SONA voices?: Only you can access your workspace and the voices in your library.
Is SONALAB GDPR-compliant and can I get a DPA?: Yes to both. SONALAB is GDPR-compliant, and a Data Processing Agreement is available on request: write to support@sonalab.eu.
